Photographer:   Maxwell Jefferies

Residence:   Perth, Western Australia.  W.A. covers one-third of Australia, being the largest of the eight states and territories. It has a population of only 26 million (2021) people spread over 7.7 million sq. km, so there is plenty of room to 'get away from it all' and enjoy God's creation.

Profile:   I have been taking photographs of Australia for over 55 years, having travelled extensively around and through this wide, colourful and diverse island continent.  From deserts to the snowfields, from the beaches to the outback, from the cities to the rainforests, Australia has it all in just one country - no passport required.  This website is my hobby, and as such is an ongoing project of adding and perfecting.  One of the main aims of this website is to promote Australia (the Great South Land) to the world, its God-created natural beauty and Christian heritage.

Image Value & Copyright:   The value of an image is not just in paper and ink costs, but rather in the time, effort, vehicles and fuel costs to get to locations in a BIG country; photographic equipment and computers, software and websites; and paper and inks; plus something for expertise and intellectual rights.  A fair go - the Aussie credo!  All photos were taken and are copyrighted by Maxwell Jefferies. Please only use images for private or non-commercial purposes.

This is a non-commercial website - all advertising is in free support of the organisation linked, and does not indicate any association thereby. All photos are copyrighted.  Site created 14th February 2005 by Max Jefferies, using WYSIWYG Web Builder.
About Max:   I was born and bred in the great state of Western Australia, a long way from the rest of the world. My family was very outdoorsy, so I got to see lots of great places and at age 16, received my first camera, a Kodak fixed lens 35mm, mostly transparencies. I bought my first 35mm, a small Pentax something with fixed lens, at 18 years of age and later had a Ricoh SLR with screw-on lens. The last film camera was a Pentax MZ50 - then I went digital. See more info on my current camera gear here.

I married the girl next door in 1973, after being the best of friends for 8 years, and have been together ever since. We have two sons, our older son, Matthew, is with the Australian Army where he has the rank of Major and is stationed in Canberra, Australian Capital Territory. He is married with five children. Our younger son, Daniel, married an English girl and has two children. They live just out of London. He is a supervisor renewing underground infrastructure around London and was on the underground tunnel machine on the Under Thames River Project.

I have always loved good photography and regret not pursuing it as a career, or at least as a more dedicated amateur, though that is being fulfilled more of late with the shift into digital. Having good equipment is half the battle, and I am fortunate that this has been achieved, allowing me to concentrate more on the content side of my hobby. I use Paint Shop Pro to edit and enhanse my images. I hope you enjoy my photos - there will be lots more to come, but please, do not use any of my images for commercial purposes, or distribute them in an manner whatsoever.

Cheers,  Max.
