The Springvale Homestead is the oldest homestead in the NT and is on the Katherine River, and has all accommodations for tourists. It is 8 km SW of Katherine, Northern Territory, Australia. Image sourced from http://right-around-we-go.blogspot.com/

The Springvale Homestead billabongs are a chain of ponds that extends for several kilometres alongside the Katherine River. Water lilies grow prolifically and there are ducks and guinea fowl along the edges of the billabong, as well as freshwater crocodiles, who sometimes make an appearance after dark on our side of the water. Mataranka is known for its Thermal Pools. There are two main pools, Rainbow Pool (above) at Mataranka Homestead and the spring and pool at Bitter Springs. There are several others in the area but these are the two main tourist pools. Sourced from http://alwynsimple.blogspot.com/
