Trip Around Australia by the Jefferies 1981

Part 1 - Queensland, New South Wales & Australian Capital Territory

Around Australia Trip 1981  -  Part    1   -   2   -   3  -  4

Dad (Gordon) & Mum (Irene), Max & Ann, Matthew & Daniel. The trip took 5 months and covered over 24,000 kms,

mostly on Highway 1. Dad & Mum supplied the car - Holden HQ with a new 202 six engine and a V8 radiator.

Ann & I provided the caravan - 22' Modern with 4 bunks down the back & a swing-down double bed over the front lounge.

We headed north from Perth and did the top-end first as this was the right time to avoid the cyclones and hot weather.

The car had a high-ratio ute diff which pulled the caravan reasonably well (surprisingly!). It also had new pump-up

rear shockies, new set of light-truck radials, two spares for the van and load-levellers for the hitch.

These are selected images scanned from slides from the trip - many photos were damaged by fungus and dumped.

This is a small sample of the photos in our old family album, going back many years. Many of the photos are

scanned from old prints or transparencies (slides). Due to the age and deterioration of some the prints and

transparencies, image quality may be rather poor in some cases.

A one week trip to Kalbarri we took before heading off around Australia in 1981 - to test the car and caravan.

Take-off!  From the Fisher St, Bassendean house.

Just about to go and Dad finds the sump oil plug down the back where he had drained the oil for an oil-change,

but forgot to put the plug back in and add the new oil.

Dad embarrassed.                                                                              Daniel not happy.

Overnight in Geraldton at Uncle ? home.

The first morning - what a shamble! We did settle into a better routine over the next few days.

In checking the caravan wheels we found one overheating, so had to change the bearing from our spares.

Alien Intrusion: UFOs and the evolution connection

(updated & expanded)
In this landmark book (the only creation book ever to be an Amazon top 50 best-seller),

Gary Bates unravels one of popular culture’s enduring and growing phenomena. UFOs,

crop circles, Roswell, alien abductions—it’s all answered! The well researched data leads

the reader inexorably to one conclusion: there is an ‘intergalactic’ battle over the history of

life in the universe, and for the souls of human beings. Its eye-opening insights have

already won souls for Christ. This new edition contains more pictures and a new

chapter about alleged abductions based on extra research Gary has conducted.

Spent the night parked outside Victor & Linda's unit in South Hedland.

Victor & Linda.

Victor took us on a tour of wear he worked at the iron ore loading facility in Port Hedland.

We all went fishing in a mangrove creek north of the town.

Dad put out a net and caught over one hundred mullet.

It took us hours to clean the things, but Linda was very happy.

"The Lord by wisdom founded the earth; by understanding He established the heavens;
By His knowledge the depths were broken up, and clouds drop down the dew....
Do not be afraid of sudden terror, nor of trouble from the wicked when it comes;
For the Lord will be your confidence, and will keep your foot from being caught....
The curse of the Lord is on the house of the wicked, but He blesses the home of the just.
Surely He scorns the scornful, but gives grace to the humble.
The wise shall inherit glory, but shame shall be the legacy of fools."

We put in our boat at Geikie Gorge, near Fitzroy Crossing, Western Australia.

Some awesome scenery along the Fitzroy River.

The road between Fitzroy Crossing and Halls Creek was dirt at that time. We busted a spring hanger in this section.
